Watched the C4 documentary of the same name last night, following fundamentalist Christians around on their campaign of hypocrisy. The main interviewees expressed views on topics such as homosexuality, Islam, the age of the Universe and the Earth, and abortion, claiming their views are based on Biblical ‘evidence’.
For example, the majority claim that the Earth and Moon are between 6′000 and 10′000 years old. These figures are based on dates from the Bible. The fact that there is a mountain of evidence-based scientific fact, suggesting that the Earth and Moon are over 4′000′000′000 years old, held no sway with the fundamentalists. These views are being taught in some fundamentalist-run, state-funded schools in England. How can we expect today’s children to lead our country into a free and liberal future if their education is dictated by outdated doctrine?
They also claim that the ’sin’ of homosexuality stands against those of murder and peadophilia. How can they compare something carried out by consenting adults, where no physical or mental harm is done, to acts which remove a human’s right to be safe and happy? Murder destroys a persons right to life and peadophila ruins a child’s right to a safe and healthy experience of sexuality.
Another area is that of Islam. Some of the quotes from last night’s programme include, “Islam is an evil religion”, “Allah is satan”, and “Islam is of the pit of hell”. I fundamentally believe that all people’s have a right to free speech and association, however, there comes a time when views such as those expressed above become insightful of religious and racial hatred.
Some of these fundamentalists have unfettered access to those of high office in the Houses of the Commons and the Lords. For example, Nadine Dorries MP is spearheading a campaign to alter the abortion laws to restrict the rights of women. During this time, she was assisted by some members of fundamentalist Christian groups.
So, enough ranting. If you had the same reaction that I did, then petition your MP on the issues which you believe are fundamentally right. The right of women to choose, the advance of science and medicine through the use of stem-cell research, equal rights for gay and lesbian couples, and providing the children of this country a fair chance through sensitive, liberal education.
Hey there, I’m David I was looking around on here and found this post and figured I would post on this one.
Before I begin I would like to state that I am indeed a Xian.
Now having successfully shut the minds of at least a few of you reading this I will make my points.
First of all I do not agree that homosexuality is comprable to murder and pedophelia. However I also do not agree that there is no physical or mental harm that comes from it. If you take a look at some of the medical evidence against homosexuality you will plainly see that the misuse of the human reproductive and waste excrection systems does indeed result in things ranging from kidney infections to torn rectums to herpes, to HIV to AIDS.
Secondly, I do not agree entirely with the view of Islam that was put forth. I do believe that Islam is incorrect in many of its views and that it is on the right track.
Thirdly, Abortion is a subject that I am rather touchy about so I would like to delve into this one in a little more depth.
You say that it is the right of the woman to choose whether or not to have an abortion. I have one simple question for you on this point. Why?
I also have one question to ask you. When were you concieved?
I look forward to hearing back from you.

this guy liam..i am thinking at him , and at people like him,,and i cannot see, that such a views like his, not only destroyed our society, and values..destroyed also the very core of our soul..
people that say that homosexuality is ok, people that say, we are the result of evolution..scientifically was proven inacurate…
people that say, we are the result of blind evolution..how can something evolve out of nothing? if at the begining was nothing..from nothing comes nothing,,is is logic.
as i said, people tht mock others for their believe and for their desire to chnage society for the better, and are the advocates of such a called freedom..but they are less than free..
slaves of their own desires, of a sinfull life..sex..drinking,
we can see what they did with our society…look around, and u wil see..it is obvious..no need of proves..only use the eyes and u will see…
unfortunally, peolle like these, are powerfull today…
it is their time, and our world wil be little by little destroyed by their views..almost all the politicians are liberals, non believers..and that is sad..
anyhow, meditate..sadly this is the truth!:(
